This morning was very overcast and the weather called for thunderstorms early in the day, so we decided to meet around two in the afternoon and then go out to the Glunk site.  Also, North Central Chapter Eight had plans to come out to the site around five in the afternoon, so our waiting to go out to the Glunk site was two-fold, weather and wanting to meet the members of NCC8.  My goal for today was to clean up the walls of my excavation unit, making them strait and clean and making sure that all features can be clearly seen and therefore identified, including the piece of brick located in the West wall of the Northwest quad; as well as dig the entirety of level two.  The ground around our excavation units was very wet, but because we had covered our units from the rain, our units were fairly dry.  After completing the wall clean up of my excavation unit, I began working on digging out level two.  I began on the Southwest quad, using my trowel to scrap away the dirt until I reached a sandy layer at fifteen inches, which we assigned as the end of level two and the beginning of level three.  Within the Southwest quad I found a fairly large pottery sherd that was burnt both inside and out, was cord marked, and chert tempered, which defines that pottery as Shanks Ferry style.
After about three hours, at five in the afternoon, Tank Baird, the president of NCC8, arrived along with a few other members, to work on their excavation units (numbers thirteen through fifteen).  Their units had remained open through the winter, and therefore they had been highly weathered and require much work to restore to proper quality.   Many members of NCC8 are very knowledgeable and very enjoyable to work with in the field.  Also, other than one individual, they are very good at what they do, so it was very advantageous for us to work along side them.  After myself and the rest of the class had finished our work for the day, we collected our artifacts and cleaned up our tools and returned to campus.
