Andrew Montour Presentation

Today we went out to Montoursville Highschool to help with the Andrew Montour presentation hosted by North Central Chapter Eight (NCC8).  When we arrived at the high school, we were quickly met by the president of NCC8, Tank Baird.  I had previously informed Robin Van Auken that I am a theater technician, which came in handy because there appeared to be a problem with the microphone that Tank was to use for the introduction to the presentation; therefore I was quickly able to aid Tank in resolving the situation by fixing the microphone he was planning to use.  William Hunt, a historian from West Virginia, portrayed Andrew Montour, the Native American interpreter for whom the name Montoursville is derived.  Hunt was extremely knowledgeable and very convincing as an actor as he gave his presentation on the life of Andrew Montour.  Hunt spoke of how he grew up, how Natives lived on the land, and the importance of his mother, Madame Montour.  He also discussed some of the Native culture, including weapons, which he had on his person as a part of his costume, and other parts of his costume.  Hunt concluded the presentation with a question and answer session, after which he was presented with a key to the city by the mayor of Loyalsock.
Afterwards, myself and the rest of the class met up with William Hunt and Tank Baird near the Glunk site for a quick presentation by Hunt in the area once known as Ostonwakin that I helped to film.  Below is a picture of William Hunt, dressed as Andrew Montour, during his presentation at Montoursville High School.
